FAQs
The Pectra upgrade combines Prague (execution layer) and Electra (consensus layer) changes into one hard fork. It introduces 11 EIPs focused on staking, scalability, and developer usability.
Pectra enhances staking by raising validator limits (EIP-7251), enabling safer exits (EIP-7002), and speeding up onboarding (EIP-6110). These changes simplify operations and reduce risks for stakers.
Blobs are a scalable way to store Layer 2 data on Ethereum. Pectra doubles blob capacity (EIP-7691) and standardizes scheduling (EIP-7840), improving rollup performance and lowering fees.
EIP-7702 lets regular wallets act like smart contracts during a transaction. This enables features like gasless transactions and batch execution without requiring a smart contract wallet.
Pectra introduces new precompiles (EIP-2537), better access to block history (EIP-2935), and improved inter-layer communication (EIP-7685), making it easier to build secure and scalable dApps.
